In occasione del festival Teatri di Vetro 2015 – TdV9 – che si svolgerà a Roma dall’1 al 15 novembre 2015 occupando spazi quali il Macro di Testaccio, l’Opificio Romaeuropa, Carrozzerie N.O.T., il teatro Vascello, la redazione di Nucleo Artzine ha intervistato gli artisti ospiti di questa nuova edizione della rassegna di musica/danza/teatro che è alla sua nona edizione. Il titolo scelto dallo staff di TdV9 è “La comunità che viene”, che pone l’accento sul bisogno concreto di creare una comunità artistica a cui potersi rivolgere, che possa costruire continuamente spazi di creazione, ridefinendo il proprio terreno di lavoro e la propria pratica.
La prima giornata del festival vedrà l’alternarsi, presso gli spazi del Macro, di artisti che intraprenderanno un percorso performativo di tipo sonoro e musicale. Lo spazio per il suono e il suo tempo renderanno l’atmosfera del museo capitolino onirica e pregna d’echi, voci, ripetizioni. La redazione ha deciso di far parlare di sé gli artisti coinvolti, sottoponendogli tre domande sulla poetica, l’esperienza e il rapporto con il topic del festival.
Andiamo a conoscere Rinus Van Alebeek, che con il suo Dormyoga regala uno spazio privato di suono a cinquanta fortunati muniti di cuffie. Non dimenticatele a casa!
1 – Portare la propria musica e la propria ricerca sonora all’interno di un contesto spaziale come quello del Macro non è una cosa che capita tutti i giorni. Come si inserirà il tuo lavoro in questo contesto inusuale per un compositore?
Non faccio musica, e non sono coinvolto in una ricerca sonora. Non credo che il contesto, o il suonare nel foyer di un museo, sia insolito.
2 – Di fronte a cosa si troverà il pubblico che prenderà parte all’evento?
La gente ascolta la mia performance attraverso le cuffie. Spetta a loro come e dove muoversi e se gli piace usare le decorazioni del museo per migliorare la loro esperienza d’ascolto. Sono anche liberi di chiudere gli occhi, o rimanere a casa. Lo spettacolo sarà trasmesso live e in diretta su Radio On.
3 – La campagna di promozione tramite social network di Teatri di Vetro 9 si è basata ironicamente sull’assenza all’interno del Festival di personaggi come star o intellettuali/artisti, magari già morti. È questo un evidente riferimento al passato e all’oggi. Come si rapporta invece la tua/vostra presenza al Festival rispetto al suo titolo – «la comunità che viene» –, che ci sbilancia fortemente verso il futuro? Verso che tipo di possibile o impossibile – seguendo l’hashtag #lacomunitàchenonviene – comunità ci stiamo proiettando?
Non ne ho idea e non mi interessa l’argomento. Ancora una volta, la mia performance può essere ascoltata solo in cuffia. Ogni ascoltatore vivrà la propria esperienza, immersi nei loro pensieri o nei loro sogni. Le comunità prosperano sull’ignoranza, perché necessariamente limitano o eliminano il carattere e il talento dei singoli.

Nucleo Artzine is going to interview guest artists of the new edition of the music/dance/theater Festival Teatri di Vetro – TdV9 – that is in its ninth year of practice. The festival is going to be held in Rome from 1° to 15° of November 2015 and will occupy spaces such as Macro of Testaccio’s neighborhood, Opificio Romaeuropa, Carrozzerie N.O.T., teatro Vascello. The title chosen by the staff of TdV9 is “The Coming Community”, which emphasizes the real need to create an artistic community we can turn to, that can continuously build spaces of creation, redefining its groundwork and practice.
The first day of the festival, at Macro Museum’s facilities, there will be the alternation of artists that perform and seek paths of sounds and music. The atmosphere of the Capitoline Museum will be made by these sounds dreamlike and full of echoes, voices, repetitions. The editors decided to let the artists involved talk about themselves by sending them three questions about the poetic, the experience and relationship with the topic of the festival.
Let’s meet Rinus Van Alebeek, who, with his Dormyoga, offers a private space for sound to fifty lucky people equipped with headphones. Don’t forget yours at home!
1 – Bringing your own music and sound research within the spatial container of the Macro Museum is something unusual, that doesn’t happen everyday. How would you integrate your work in this context, which is out of the ordinary for a composer?
I don’t make music, and I am not involved in a sonic research. I don’t think the setting, playing in the foyer of a museum, is unusual.
2 – What kind of experience are we supposed to find?
People listen to my performance through their headphones. It is up to them how and where to move and if they like to use the decoration in the museum to enhance their listening experience. They are also free to close their eyes, or stay at home. The performance will be transmitted live and direct on Radio On.
3 – Teatri di Vetro promotion on social networks is ironically based on the absence of any reference to stars or intellectuals/artists from the past, if not dead. This is a way to challenge the present. How would you connect the work you present on the festival to the title of our web campaign “The coming community” – which, you know, it is a title strongly directed to the future. In other words, those words of the hashtag #lacomunitàchenonviene which kind of community are we projecting, is it possible or impossible?
I have no idea and I am not interested in the topic. Again, my performance can only be heard over headphones. Each listener will have their own experience, be they in thoughts or in dreams. Communities thrive on ignorance, because they necessarily limit or eliminate the character and talent of the individual.

Why? To devote ourselves an empty space, its own atmosphere, between dreams and thoughts.
